It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was out her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
